Have you been going through the cold February winter’s slump recently and, like many people, struggling to shake yourself out of the ‘here we go again’ Groundhog Day feeling of déjà vu?
Christmas and New Year have long gone, the snow now seems to save it’s worst for February, and the shops and fashions look tired! Opaque tights and scarves rule the High Streets – yeuk!! It’s even worse for girls!!
Right, SNAP OUT OF IT!
OK, it can be quite a lonely existence, thinking you’re the only tranny in the village …. but did you ever wonder what life’s like outside the village boundary?!
Life’s TOO short to sit and mope behind your net curtains. And remember ….. no matter what you’re going through and feeling, the chances are that someone’s been there already! All you have to do is summon up the courage to seek and ask for help …. and it can start with a phonecall or online – so no-one can see you!!
If you’ve ever seen The Lord Of The Rings just remember what adventures Frodo went through when he was offered help from ‘The Fellowship’?! I know Freda’s not a brilliant femme name to adopt but just bear that in mind when you hesitate to go forth from The Shires! Some of my best times have been when I’m out dressed.
As I write this I’m almost ready for another of my Kathy days out – well, window shopping anyway! I have my makeup on, nails painted, wardrobe decided (flat boots today, heels aren’t good for shopping!). God forbid, it’s going to be trousers unfortunately as it’s so cold today. And hair almost in place – I don’t know about you but my wig is always the last piece of my Kathy jigsaw.
Three years ago I would never have thought I’d be in this position – I was at my lowest, loneliest position approaching my 50th birthday (no need to dwell on that). But here I am today with a whole new set of friends, and a brilliant partner who accepts me for who I am, and not for what society says I should be like (we both did our nails together last night, aah, the simple pleasures!). I’ve organised three Enigma Balls at the superbBletchleyPark (and the next one on the way in May!) which lots of cross-dressers have enjoyed – and LIFE’S GOOD!
And one of the landmarks in my journey over the past few years was the first conversation and meeting I ever had with Lynne at Femesque. I was already confident in and comfortable with myself, having come to terms with how I am over many years. I was happy with my wig, which as I’ve said before is fundamental to how I feel.
And then ….. OMG! I found a new hairpiece through Lynne and became 10 years younger! My outlook and style totally changed overnight! It’s cost me a whole new wardrobe but it’s been worth every penny! Gone are the doldrums and I’m going to finish this piece as soon as I can because I’m wasting precious shopping time!
A few months back a girl in Maidenhead actually came up to me in the street and asked me where I got my hair done because she’d been looking around for a salon that would cut and colour hers exactly like mine!! She was gob-smacked when I told her it was a wig! Well, she was gob-smacked anyway:
Haha and yippee! All because of one little phone call – THANKS LYNNE!
Who knows where it will all end? I’ve already had my journey to Mordor and back (for LOTR fans)! More adventures for certain!
Remember:
Just give us a call!
Big hugs and lots of kisses
Kathy
